Diefenbaker InterNational Airport to recognize thirteenth Prime Minister of Canada John Diefenbaker. The “ LICEnse of Air Harbor” was given to the city of Saskatoon on June 1, 1929 which lead to the establishment of this Airport . In 1940, the airport became RCAF Station Saskatoon after it was leased to Royal Canadian Air Force. It was used as British Commonwealth Air training plan during the years of war and later in year 1947, it was used for civilians by Canadian department of Transport. In year 1950, Air Canada started its operation from this Airport. Among 15 major airports in Canada Saskatoon airport was rated as second fastest growing airport.
