Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing (RAKCON) was established in the year 1946. It is an established Institute for Education in nursing not just in India but also amongst South East Asian Region. It is affiliated to University of Delhi&sa=Search&ref='>Delhi and is under the Ministry of health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It provides and promotes Education and Research in the field of nursing. Initially, the only Programme run by the Institute was B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, and soon in the year 1959, it started Masters of Nursing Programme which was of two years duration. It has come a long way since then by then starting M.Phil, in Nursing in 1986 and Doctoral Programme in nursing started in 1992 under the Department of Nursing. Through its Department of Continuing Education it also conducts various short term courses and is also recognised as a Programme Study centre by Indira Gandhi Open National University for conducting post basic B.Sc. Nursing course. In association with WHO and Indian Nursing Council, it is also a regional Study centre for Ph.D in Nursing by Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences, Bangalore. It is one of the sub-recipient for the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The College is located at Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi&sa=Search&ref='>Delhi. It has a well-equipped library with various books and latest journals available for the Students. It has many Student Welfare and Co-Curricular activities for the Students for their over-all development, Student health Program being a part of the same.
