Mark Andrew Spitz is an American former Swimmer. He was born on February 10, 1950 in Modesto, California, United States. He is a former record holder in Swimming and nine-time Olympic Champion. He was training at Arden Hills Swimming Club at the age of nine. Before the age of ten years he held 17 National age-group records and one world record. He trained at Santa Clara High School from 1964-1968 where he held records in every stroke and distance. He first competed at the InterNational level in 1965 Maccabiah games. He has also won five gold medals at 1967 Pan American games and he retired from swimming at the age of 22.
