Lee Sang-hwa is a South Korean retired speed skater who specialises in the sprint distances. She is a two-time Olympic champion in 500 metres and the 2010 World Sprint champion. Lee holds the women's 500m world record with a time of 36.36 seconds, set in Salt Lake City in 2013. Lee won back-to-back Olympic gold medals in the women's 500m event in 2010 and 2014. Lee received the top national sports award in South Korea for her record-breaking season. Lee and Japanese speed skater Kodaira Nao shared an iconic moment at the 2018 PyeongChang Games. Lee and fellow speed skater Nao Kodaira met up at the Gangwon 2024 Youth Olympics to inspire the next generation of athletes. She is a two-time Olympic champion in 500 metres (2010 and 2014) and the 2010 World Sprint champion.
