Kalvakuntla Kavitha was born at Karimnagar to Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao and Shobha. Her father is the leader of the Telangana Movement and the first Chief Minister of Telangana state. Her father hailed from Chinthamadaka village in Siddipet District, Telangana. Kalvakuntla is the current Member of the Telangana Legislative Council since 2020. Before that, she served as a Member of Parliament from Nizamabad Constituency from 2014 to 2019. She completed her engineering from VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology. She did her MS in computer sciences from the University of Southern Mississippi. After graduation, she worked as a software engineer in the United States before returning to India in 2004 with a vision to work for the people of Telangana. She is the daughter of the Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao. In 2015, She was the Co-Convenor of Sub Committee-III in the Committee Estimates. In 2020 she was elected as a Member of the Telangana Legislative Council.
