Jackson State University was (Jackson State, or JSU) founded in 1877 is a historical black University to educate newly freed and underprivileged blacks at Mississippi State in the United States. American Baptist Home Mission Society of New York started as a private School in Natchez, Mississippi and later moved to Jackson and renamed it as Jackson College in 1882.
