Faegheh Atashin, known professionally as Googoosh, is an Iranian singer and former actress. One of the most popular and prolific entertainers in Iran, her career has spanned over six decades. Googoosh was born in Tehran in 1950 under the name Faegheh Atashin. Two years later, her parents got divorced and her father brought her up and kick-started her singing career by putting her on stage at the age of three. She was one of Iran's most popular and enduring entertainers despite being banned from performing for some 20 years following the Iranian Revolution (1978–79). She won The best actress for Bita in Iranian Sepas film festival in 1973. Recorded soundtrack (produced by RCA Records) of San Remo Music Festival in the same year.In 2001 she performed at the Carthage Music Festival and in 2022 she performed at the Expo Festival. Googoosh was condemned to isolation for over twenty years until she left the country for good in 2000. Since then, she has lived in Los Angeles (except two years in Toronto between 2000 and 2002), resumed touring, and has released about a dozen albums.
