The Freedom Trail is the path made from the red bricks and heads to the historic sites of the city from Boston Common to Bunker Hill. It was proposed in 1951 by William Schofield, a local journalist to connect together all the important landmarks of the city through a single trail. The plan of Mr Schofield was executed by John Hynes, the mayor of Boston.
