Camp Perry is the training camp of National Guard in Ohio. It is situated near Lake Erie in northern Ohio and close to Port Clinton. Camp Perry is one of the largest outdoor rifle ranges in the world. It dates back to 1906 and was operated since 1909. The Camp was named after Oliver Hazard Perry, the American naval commander whose bravery feat helped in winning the Battle of Put-in-Bay during the War of 1812. Camp Perry was turned into POW camp during World War II. After the ending of the war it was reverted to its role.
