Camp Dawson is a military training camp for West Virginia Army National Guard. It was built in 1909 spread over an area of 196.5 acres. The camp is based on banks of Cheat River. Camp Dawson is dedicated to William M. O. Dawson, former governor of the area of the region from 1905-1908. The camp was served as summer training camp during the 1st World war. Later on, it remained closed until 1928 and then made it open for West Virginia State Militia. During the world war, the camp was also used as prisoner of the war.
